Training Pathway & Supervision at Xanadu Laser Therapies

At Xanadu Laser Therapies, we are committed to providing safe, high-quality, and compliant laser treatments in accordance with Queensland Radiation Health regulations.

All students seeking to become certified laser practitioners in Queensland must first complete the following mandatory prerequisites:

  • ED170 – Laser and Intense Pulsed Light Safety (Class 4 Laser)
  • SHBBINF002 – Maintain Infection Control Standards

Once these core units are completed, students are required to apply for a Trainee Use Licence through Queensland Radiation Health before commencing practical training. Please refer to: https://www.health.qld.gov.au/system-governance/licences/radiation-licensing/apply/licences/cosmetic/use

At Xanadu, trainees complete the required:

  • 100 hours of supervised Laser Tattoo Removal
  • 50 hours of supervised Laser Skin Rejuvenation

These sessions are conducted using medical-grade devices, including the PicoSure Pro and the Medlite C6 by Cynosure, under strict compliance protocols to ensure technical skill, safety, and clinical proficiency.

All practical training is directly overseen by Nixie, a Queensland Health-approved Radiation Safety Trainer and experienced clinic director. Her dual role as a qualified unrestricted licensee and educator allows her not only to supervise trainees through their formal clinical hours, but also to mentor them in advanced protocols, patient care, and the operation of state-of-the-art laser platforms.

Nixie’s deep understanding of laser science, skin physiology, and extensive hands-on experience in tattoo removal and skin rejuvenation ensures that every trainee at Xanadu receives the highest standard of education, support, and real-world clinical experience.

All clinical training at Xanadu is further supported by the medical oversight of Dr Olesya, who plays a key role in overseeing treatment protocols and ensuring that all procedures are conducted with the highest level of clinical integrity, patient safety, and regulatory compliance. Her medical expertise adds a critical layer of support to our training program, giving trainees the benefit of both technical mentorship and medical governance.

Upon successful completion of supervised training and demonstration of competency, students may then apply for their Full Laser Use License through Queensland Radiation Health.
